Honda’s full electrification

Honda has announced the roadmap it has planned to reach its full electrification. It plans to sell only electric and hydrogen fuel cell cars by 2040. In addition, they have confirmed that their solid-state batteries will arrive imminently.

The Japanese brand is working tirelessly to achieve its electrification goals in all markets where it is present. Undoubtedly, it is determined to play a relevant role in sustainable mobility. Following the press conference, they have set long-term dates to meet these objectives. They hope to achieve carbon neutrality for all their products and corporate activities on a global scale by 2040, as they want to achieve zero environmental impact in the life cycles of the products they launch.

How will the electrification targets be achieved?

To be carbon-free and meet the planned targets, Honda will increase production of electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. That is why 40% of its sales in 2030 are expected to be zero carbon footprint cars. Likewise, it is expected to increase this percentage of sales to 80% 5 years later, thus reaching the expected 100% zero emissions in all its products by 2040.

Honda’s electrification targets

These objectives can be achieved thanks to the alliance of the Japanese brand with General Motors, since both manufacturers are working together on the development of two electric cars that will use Ultium batteries. These models will see the light of day in 2024, although one of them will be under the Honda brand and the other under the Acura badge. Both will be launched first in North America and then in other markets. For its part, a product offensive will be carried out in the Chinese market in the short term, where ten new electric products will be presented. Finally, the Japanese firm has set its sights on the local Japanese market and will introduce an electric Kei Car in 2024, although no details are yet known about this new vehicle.
