7 facts about cars

The automotive world is very complex and very broad, it is a science that grows more and more every day and develops in order to offer us the latest advances in personal mobility. But, in addition, behind each brand and each model we can find very interesting data that you may not know.

  1. An average car has around 80,000 different parts. With the evolution of cars, the number of parts grows considerably, as more and more parts are needed to provide new features.
  2. Do you know when the first automobile race was held? It was in France between the cities of Paris and Bordeaux. The maximum speed reached was 24km/h.
  3. Has it ever happened to you that you forget the places where you have driven? Don’t panic, it’s more common than you think. This phenomenon is known as «road hypnosis». It is a state of mind in which a person drives the car «autonomously» reacting to all external events in a normal way but without the memory of having done it consciously.
  4. The dashboard was originally a piece of wood built into the front of the horse-drawn carriage that prevented mud splashes from the horses’ trotting from reaching the driver.
  5. Do you like the smell of a new car? This odor is composed of more than 50 volatile organic compounds, none of which are toxic.
  6. In the 19th century, the automobile was welcomed in large cities as the great means of clean transportation. Horse excrement covered the streets of cities all over the world and was a major environmental pollution problem.
  7. It is estimated that a car spends, on average, 95% of its useful life parked.
